This scenic journey includes guided visits to monastic
ruins on Devenish Island, the folk traditions of Glencolmcille, walks along the
scenic Giants Causeway, the Glenveagh National Park, the Slieve League Cliffs –
Highest in Europe, plus a visit to the storied ruins of Dunluce Castle, a medieval
fortress perched high on the ocean cliffs and echoing with history.
You’ll balance active discovery with meaningful sightseeing
and cultural encounters — making it the perfect way to experience the beautiful
scenic wonders of the northern coast of Ireland, up close and on foot.
This tour is Ideal for active travelers, with up to 5 hours
of scenic walking daily (between two and six miles a day) on mostly gentle
paths and hill trails.

Day 1 September 5, 2027 Dublin
At 2:30
PM, depart from your hotel for a walking tour of Dublin, taking in sights such
as the River Liffey, Georgian architecture, historic pubs, and hidden gems as
your guide provides insight into the character of this city, known for its wit
and humor. In the evening, enjoy a welcome drink with your group followed by
dinner at a popular Dublin restaurant.
This
evening, enjoy at your leisure, the many pubs of Dublin, Ireland, and their
wonderful traditional Irish music.

Day 2 September 6, 2027
Donegal & Devenish Island
Depart
for County Donegal, stopping along the way in the picturesque town of
Enniskillen for a traditional and hearty pub lunch. Embark on a scenic boat
ride to explore Devenish Island, home to a monastic site dating back to the 6th
century. Discover the rich history of the island, where 1,500 scholars once
lived, as you wander among its church ruins, stone crosses, and round tower.
Devenish Island is a historic lake island
in Lower Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, in the republic of Northern Ireland, a
province of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. It is the only spot on this tour where we
will be officially in the Republic of Northern Ireland, until the afternoon of
day 6 and again on day 7, which will be in regions of the Republic of Northern
Ireland.
Devenish
Island is famous for its well-preserved 6th-century monastic site. It is most
renowned for its remarkably intact 81-foot round tower, the ruins of an
Augustinian abbey, and an ancient carved high cross

we return from the Devenish Island, this afternoon, our tour will continue back
in Ireland, onto Donegal town for dinner at our hotel in Donegal, Ireland, with
our group.

Day 3 September7, 2027 Slieve League & Glencolmcille
The Slieve League (Sliabh Liag) Cliffs are located on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal, Ireland. Rising 601 meters (1,972 feet) straight out of the ocean, they are among the highest and most spectacular accessible sea cliffs in Europe, towering nearly three times the height of the famous Cliffs of Moher.
Marvel at the breathtaking Atlantic views as
you stand atop the soaring Slieve League cliffs, the highest sea cliffs in
Europe. Continue hiking through Glencolmcille, rich in lush greenery and
ancient stone structures in unspoiled landscapes.
Enjoy a
packed lunch outdoors before visiting the Glencolmcille Folk Village. This
open-air museum offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional rural life with
meticulously reconstructed cottages; learn about the customs, crafts, and daily
life of the local people of the past.

Donegal town.

Day 4 September 8, 2027 Glenveagh
National Park
Glenveagh National Park lies in the heart of County
Donegal, among the wild and rugged landscape of the Derryveagh Mountains. Its
pristine habitats and protected wildlife, and its trails taking in the stunning
Victorian Castle and Gardens along Lough Veagh, make Glenveagh the ideal escape
for lovers of the natural world.
Today
we will hike through the breathtaking wilderness of Glenveagh National Park,
with its rugged mountains, serene lakes, and dense woodlands. Enjoy a packed
lunch along the trail. In the heart of the park, visit Glenveagh Castle, an
opulent 19th-century mansion offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Ireland’s
old ruling class. See the grand halls, beautifully furnished rooms and lush
gardens before visiting the charming tearoom for a traditional snack of tea and
scones with clotted cream and homemade jam.
If there
is one place NOT to miss when in Ireland it is Glenveagh National Park, and the
castle there that once belonged to 'Black' Jack Adair. The castle itself is
fascinating, but the gardens are beyond beautiful.

Embark
on a scenic hike along Horn Head, a rugged peninsula that juts into the
Atlantic Ocean near Dunfanaghy. As you traverse the coastal paths, you’ll be
treated to stunning vistas of towering cliffs, sweeping sandy beaches, and the
azure waters below. Keep an eye out for seabirds overhead and seals basking on
the rocky shoreline. After your invigorating hike and packed lunch, enjoy a
leisurely afternoon at your own pace and dine independently in
Dunfanaghy.
Horn Head (Corrán Binne) is a spectacular, rugged peninsula on the northwest coast of County Donegal, Ireland, just outside the village of Dunfanaghy. Famous for its 180-meter (600-foot) quartzite sea cliffs, it is a key discovery point on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Day 6 September 10, 2027 Inishowen Peninsula & Derry City
Experience
the stunning beauty of the Inishowen Peninsula today. Visit Grianán of Aileach,
an ancient stone fort – a witness to history for centuries – offering hilltop
vistas over the glistening waters of Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly. Continue
along the peninsula, exploring Donegal’s sandy beaches and savoring fresh local
seafood.
This afternoon, we cross the border, leaving the nation of
Ireland and entering into the nation of Northern Ireland, which is part of the
United Kingdom.
We will
visit Derry for a fascinating walking tour along the historic Derry Walls, with
sweeping views of the city and the scenic River Foyle. These well-preserved
17th-century fortifications offer a unique insight into the city’s rich
heritage.
We will
stay these next two nights in Derry, Northern Ireland.

Day 7 September 11,2027 Causeway Coast & Giant’s Causeway
Embark today on a hike along the dramatic
Causeway Coast Way, with soaring cliffs, sandy beaches, and rocky coves.
Explore the intriguing basalt pillars of the iconic Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site, and hear the legends that surround these stone columns
sweeping into the sea.
The Giant’s Causeway is the only UNESCO World
heritage Site located in
Northern Ireland.
End your adventure at Dunluce Castle, a
medieval ruin perched high on the ocean cliffs and echoing with history. Its
wild beauty and storied past capture the essence of the island’s natural and
historical magnificence.
The Giant's Causeway is a striking natural wonder in County Antrim,
Northern Ireland. Famous for its 40,000 interlocking, geometric basalt columns,
it was formed by volcanic activity roughly 60 million years ago.
The
Geology: Roughly 60 million years ago, cataclysmic volcanic
activity and lava flows created extensive plateaus. As the thick molten basalt
cooled rapidly, it contracted and cracked into consistent, polygonal
shapes—mostly hexagons.
We will dine with our group at a local restaurant
this evening and enjoy our second and final night at our hotel in Derry,
Northern Ireland.

Day 8 September 12,2027 Carlingford & Dublin
Depart Antrim, crossing the border of Northern Ireland and
entering Ireland once again, returning to Dublin.
Along
the way, we will stop in the historic town of Carlingford, Ireland, known for
its fresh seafood, scenic views, and leprechaun folklore. Stroll through the charming town center,
exploring the medieval streets lined with colorful shops and pubs, and then
have lunch in a local café.
We will
continue on to Dublin where we will check into to our hotel in Dublin for the
final night of our tour and we will say goodbye to our guide here tonight, then
having this final night at leisure to enjoy the restaurants and pubs of Dublin
one last time.
